I've explored some of the reasons people make a life out of crime and terrorism. With there being many reasons it is unfortunate the solutions commonly used are ineffective... and may be making things worse.
Is poverty the cause of crime and terrorism? The answer to this question is not a simple one, but it is important to understand some of the causes because understanding the causes may help us better understand crime and terrorism. The presumed distinction between crime and terrorism is based on a historical concept of both. The adage that criminals engage in crime for profit and terrorists operate exclusively for political motives contradicts the contemporary reality of these two groups. Terrorists are often supported by crime and move frequently between identities as criminals and terrorists. Those in political power and even ordinary citizens should pay attention to these facts because they affect us all and if we can isolate the causes we may be able to come up with a solution.
